Practice has led to a wide knowledge of local legislation and its practical implementation and treatment by the courts. Other professional activities with Government agencies and NGO’s have included considerable involvement in developing policy, the drafting of legislation, and public sensitisation to local laws.
Advising local and overseas clients generally on approvals and regulatory requirements with respect to large project financing transactions, the Companies Act, the Securities Industry Act, Banking and Insurance legislation.

Familiar with the conduct of civil litigation having acted as an Instructing Attorney throughout career, including conduct and co-ordination of over 200 civil claims arising out of attempted coup; judicial review, administrative and constitutional law; personal injury claims; defamation; pension funds; drafting affidavits; preparing opinions. Having conduct of litigation up to the level of appeals to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Member of the Committee which prepared the Civil Proceedings Rules for implementation
Extensive experience on Boards both private and state sector, local and international NGO’s and Cabinet/Ministerial/Judiciary appointed committees.
Local consultant on the Inter-American Bank Non-reimbursable Technical Cooperation No. ATN/MT-7064-TT Secured Transactions Project for Consulting Services to advise the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Legislative Drafting for Secured Transactions and Fair Credit Reporting, to review local legislation governing secured transactions and prepare draft legislation to harmonise the legislation in this area (2002-2006).
Consultant to PSTG Consulting for the Development of New Consumer Legislation for Trinidad and Tobago for the Ministry of Legal Affairs with particular reference to deliverables of a Report on Existing Local Policies and Practices and a Report and Recommended Draft of Consequential Amendments with particular reference to the comprehensive review of existing legislation which may be affected as a consequence of the development of the new consumer legislation (2007-2008).
Legislative Drafting
Consultant Stephanie Daly, S.C. served as a member of the Law Reform Commission of Trinidad and Tobago for some 20 years and was involved in reviewing and proposing amendments to the draft legislation prepared by the Commission; She was the local consultant on the Inter-American Bank Non-reimbursable Technical Cooperation No. ATN/MT-7064-TT Secured Transactions Projects for Consulting Services to advise the Government of Trinidad and Tobago on legislative drafting for secured transactions and fair credit reporting.
Ms. Daly, S.C. also acted as Counsel to a Task Force to review Company Legislation in relation to State Corporations and Statutory Bodies, and was a member of the Company Act Amendment Committee..
Ms. Daly was closely involved in the preparation of the Family Proceedings Act, 2004, the Mediation Act, 2004, the Children Act, 2012 and the presentation of these to the Legislative Review Committee, advising in the House of Representatives, the Senate and the Senate Select Committee.
In 2011 she was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Gold) for long and meritorious service to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the sphere of Law.
