Engaged as Local Counsel to Royal Bank of Canada in the acquisition of RBTT Financial Holdings Limited on the floors of exchanges in Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

Acted as local counsel to a statutory authority in the offering to qualified institutional buyers under Rule 144 A of the US Securities Act and to persons outside of the United States under Regulation S of the US Securities Act as part of a large project finance facility.

Project financing for completion of liquefied natural gas production facilities to facilitate expansion from Trinidad and Tobago in Atlantic LNG Train 1 and subsequent train financing.

Acted for a leading bank in Trinidad and Tobago for a portfolio of existing loan and security documentation as part of an extensive audit review and advising on risk and credit exposures.

Acted for the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago in the exercise of a forensic legal audit into a local financial institution.

Acted as counsel to Repsol E&P T&T Ltd.during the period of its initial set up in Trinidad and Tobago and in relation to the acquisition by it of an interest in the Teak Samaan and Poui offshore oil fields from bpTT.

The Firm acted on behalf of UDECOTT in all matters relating to the financing of the Port of Spain International Waterfront Centre including the interim funding accessed through FirstCaribbean International Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) Limited and the long-term financing in conjunction with Barclays Capital in the issue of commercial paper totalling US$375 million which was marketed and sold in the U.S. Private Placement market in an innovative structure.

Acted for the local electricity commission in the negotiation of its Power Purchase Agreements.

Acted as counsel to Caribbean Airlines and have advised on all matters relating to its formation and acquisition of assets from BWIA West Indies Airways Limited.

Acted as local counsel to an Australian Bank in a large project finance facility extended to a state company for the National Highways Project.

Acted as local counsel to a UK Securities Firm advising on hedging and derivative transactions in Trinidad and Tobago.

Successfully instructed Counsel in an assessment before an English Q.C., Mr. George Bompas in respect of the valuation of shares of a defunct company and saved the client in excess of TT$20 million.

Successfully represented client in defence of a claim of US$20 million before the International Chamber of Commerce/International Court of Arbitration, involving a shareholder agreement, where the Claimants eventually withdrew their claims.

Acted for a client in a local Arbitration relating to a construction dispute regarding the profit to be paid on a design and fit out contract after termination where the claim was TT $12 million and successfully reduced the claim to TT$8.5million.

Successfully obtained judgment for one of the major Banks against a former employee in the sum of TT$1.4m and in seizing assets of the former employee after proof of fraudulent dealings by the employee.

Successfully represented an international retail and manufacturing company in trade infringement and passing off action.

Successfully represented a governmental special purpose company in the local construction sector in judicial review proceedings instructing English Queen’s Counsel the impetus for which was the Commission of Enquiry into the Construction Sector of Trinidad and Tobago.

Advising and representing a governmental special purpose company in the local construction sector in mediation proceedings involving a claim for damages for termination of a contract for the services of a development construction manager and successfully reducing the claim from US$3.8m to US$2.5.

International company judicial review proceedings instructing English Queen’s Counsel the impetus for which was the Commission of Enquiry into the Construction Sector of Trinidad and Tobago.

Acted for 2 of the 4 Regional Health Authorities in the island successfully defending numerous medical negligence claims.

Successfully represented a statutory body in a negligence claim instituted against it, which said claim concerned destruction to property by fire. The claim was withdrawn by the Claimant immediately prior to trial the result of which was that our client was awarded substantial assessed costs.

Successfully defended Statutory Authority in a judicial review action commenced against it by an employee thereof for illegality and/or unfairness in failing to appoint him to a certain position therein resulting in the dismissal of the claim and the award of costs in favour of our client in the sum of TT $500,000.00.

Successfully represented statutory body at the High Court and the Court of Appeal, as well as was involved in the preparation of proceedings to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, in high profile judicial review proceedings commenced against our client by a senior official thereof who challenged disciplinary proceedings brought against him by our client. The official was ordered to answer to two of the disciplinary charges laid against him.

Successfully instructing English Queen’s Counsel, representing several insurance companies in the High Court and Court of Appeal in test litigation arising out of the 1990 coup attempt which resulted in the looting and destruction of several businesses in North Trinidad.

Successfully obtained urgent ex parte interlocutory injunction on behalf of land-owners preventing further construction on neighbouring land which was adversely affecting the client’s land.

Acted for Inncogen/Innercob in the negotiation of a Sub Lease over part of an industrial estate to a power generator company for use as a power generator plant.
