Immediately upon her admission in 2004 to practice Law in the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago, Savitri joined the firm as an Associate, practising in different areas of law handled by the firm and shortly thereafter became a member of the Dispute Resolution Service Line.
Savitri has care and conduct over a multitude of civil matters including complex multi-party commercial litigation and civil fraud and asset recovery actions, advising on the provisions of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act, 2015 and raising/responding to Challenges made thereunder, personal injury and other types of negligence suits, public law matters, tax law disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency matters. She regularly drafts pre action protocol letters, pleadings, prepares procedural documents including injunctions and witness statements and prepares opinions on liability and quantum. She appears at or with Counsel at Case Management Conferences, Pre-Trial Reviews, Assessments of Damages, Trials at the High Court and Appeals at the Court of Appeal as well as instructing Senior Counsel and King’s Counsel in the conduct of appeals before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. She also instructs Counsel at the Tax Appeal Board and the Industrial Court as well as outside of the courtroom in complex arbitrations and mediations.
